Situated on the bank of the beautiful Han River, Cham Museum is one of the most popular attractions in Danang city. It was uniquely built with Cham architectural style, featuring simple and gentle lines.
The museum was established in 1915 in an effort to preserve the cultural value of Champa Kingdom, a powerful reign thriving in Southeast Asia between 5th and 15th centuries. It was extended twice in 1930s and in 2002 but the original architecture has not changed much.
The museum now boasts the richest collection of Cham sculpture in the world. It houses nearly 300 sculptured artifacts made by sandstone, terracotta and bronze. Most of them were found in Cham towers and temples all over Central Vietnam. Hence, exhibits are grouped into My Son, Tra Kieu, Dong Duong and Thap Mam showrooms and Quang Tri, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh and Kon Tum corridors.
For its unique content and design, Cham Museum is a highlight among Vietnam’s most attractive museums. Like the renowned Cham Tower in My Son Holyland, it is a must see in Danang. (back to homepage)
